Cupping

Cupping

Cupping therapy is usually performed with glass cups. A cotton ball is soaked in alcohol and lit on fire, the burning cotton ball is placed inside the cup and removed immediately, then the cup is placed quickly on the skin.  This suction acts to draw out what is called stagnant, or stuck energy from inside the body, and bring it to the surface where it can be released, therefore helps patients reach the purpose of detoxification, relaxation and curing health problems.  It always is used to relax areas such as the back, shoulders, and forearms when the muscles are very tight or there is aching pain. Dark circles may appear where the cups were placed due to rupture of the capillaries just under the skin, they will fade after 2-4 days or even longer.
